About Tot & Preschool Swim Program
In this program, children 4 months to 6 years discover the joys of swimming in a safe, caring and professional environment. Red Cross Preschool Swim is specifically designed for our youngest students beginning with our parent and tot levels.
The first three levels (Starfish, Duck, Sea Turtle) focus on water orientation and safety for parents and their children. Swimmers progress through the lower levels based on age and ability. The main goal is to practice the first skills that are necessary to begin swimming, including bubbles, floats, jumps and even swimming independently!
Preschoolers ages 3 to 6 years move through the upper levels based on evaluation of skill. Levels 4-8 (Sea Otter, Salamander, Sunfish, Crocodile, Whale) build swim skills and age-specific water safety. The upper levels are geared to the advanced preschooler who is too young for the next program, but who have developed swimming skills beyond most preschool programs.
Each of the 8 levels is represented by an animal mascot that is incorporated into the content, making the lessons fun and engaging through songs and activities. Placement in Red Cross Swim programs depends on many variables including age, skill ability, experience and readiness. Each class duration is 45 min.
